Los Angeles Business Journal Awards Nina Marino and Jennifer Lieser as 2024 Women of Influence Attorneys
White collar criminal defense law firm Kaplan Marino announced today that the Los Angeles Business Journal has recognized Founding Partner Nina Marino and Partner Jennifer Lieser in its “Women of Influence: Attorneys” special edition. “The women covered in these pages have been recognized for exceptional legal skill and achievement across the full spectrum of responsibility, exemplary leadership as evidenced by the highest professional and ethical standards, and for contributions to the Los Angeles community at large,” states the publication.
“Marino’s complex litigation and white-collar crime practice is national and international,” highlights the editor. “She negotiates with the US Department of Justice, state attorneys general, district attorneys, and Interpol in her defense of individuals alleged to be involved with Medicare fraud, Foreign Corrupt Practice Act violations and tax, cyber and other crimes. Marino’s unconventional combination of caring, integrity and formidable lawyering has earned her a national reputation and recognition. She discovers the shades of gray behind prosecutors’ black and-white arguments to shine new light on her clients’ circumstances. Her team-driven, meticulously prepared strategies have repeatedly helped clients reach their objectives — from staying out of prison to defending allegations all the way to trial.”
Recent accolades for Marino include recognition in Who's Who Legal: Investigations 2024 with the highest rating for lawyers. She is Chambers ranked and was recognized by the Daily Journal as a 2023 Top White-Collar Attorney and as a top lawyer by the Los Angeles Business Journal in the 2023 edition of Leaders of Influence: Litigators & Trial Attorneys.
Lieser’s “practice primarily focuses on federal and state white collar and complex criminal litigation, including but not limited to bribery and kickbacks, fraud, money laundering, cybercrime and international extradition,” states the publication. “Before attending law school, Lieser worked in corporate public relations at Edelman Communications & Marketing Firm, and as marketing and public relations director for a small company. Lieser’s public relations and marketing background has been an asset to her legal career. Her ability to successfully promote large companies and diverse products have given her a unique edge on crafting clever legal arguments and confidently representing her clients both in and out of the courtroom.”
Lieser received recent recognition as a nominee for the Los Angeles Times’ 2023 “Inspirational Women Awards,” in addition to being named as a 2023 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America.
