Collin Cate is an attorney at Kaplan Marino, where he represents individuals and entities facing complex white-collar criminal and regulatory matters. His practice includes legal research and analysis, drafting persuasive briefs and motions, and developing strategic approaches to discovery and case preparation.
Collin graduated summa cum laude from Loyola Marymount University in 2022 with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Sociology. He earned his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, in 2025, where he served as Senior Note and Comment Editor for the International and Comparative Law Review. While in law school, Collin was a member of the Juvenile Innocence and Fair Sentencing Clinic (JIFS), advocating on behalf of individuals sentenced to life as juveniles under outdated California sentencing laws and working toward fairer and more proportionate outcomes.
Before joining Kaplan Marino as an attorney, Collin clerked for the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office, gaining hands-on experience in criminal defense practice, including case investigation, motion writing, and courtroom advocacy.
Collin brings a strong academic foundation and meaningful defense experience to the firm’s white-collar practice, where he is committed to providing thoughtful, thorough, and effective advocacy for every client.
