Politician sentenced to jail time for white-collar offenses

On Sept. 12, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge ordered State Senator Roderick D. Wright, a Democrat, to serve 90 days in jail followed by three years of probation for allegedly committing voter fraud and perjury. Although the 62-year-old politician requested another trial, the judge additionally ordered him to pay $2,000 in restitution and complete 1,500 hours of community. He was also permanently barred from holding public office.
