Man sentenced for role in foreclosure scam
On Sept. 3, federal prosecutors in California sentenced a man to 35 years in prison after he was convicted for his role in a foreclosure scam. The 40-year-old man was one of 17 defendants who were accused of conspiring to collect fraudulent loans in excess of $90 million. The activities reportedly caused over $50 million in losses from January 2004 until June 2006.
